34) GENUINE AMBER ROSARY FROM POLAND - This rosary was acquired in Poland. It is made of genuine Baltic amber and silver (not marked as sterling, and not tested). The beads are irregular in shape, making for a very charming effect. Each bead is approx. 8mm in size. The necklace part measures 32 inches, and the dangling part from the center medal to the tip of the cross is 6 3/4 inches. The rosary weighs 30.7 grams. The amber beads have very lovely and lively lemon color. $59

35) STERLING SILVER AND GENUINE AMBER ROSARY - From Poland comes this beautiful amber and sterling silver rosary. The amber beads are irregular bead-shaped with very a very lovely cognac color. The necklace part measures 28 inches long and the dangling part from the center medal to the tip of the cross measures 5 1/2 inches. The center medals shows Mary holding the Baby Jesus; the back shows the image of Pope John Paul II (his head, in sideview), making this a nice memento of that great Pope. The pearls vary in size slightly, but each pearl is approx. 5 mm by 8mm. The Cross and Center Medal are not marked but they are made of sterling silver metal. They are both small in size. The back of the Cross is inscribed, "Per D. N. De Lourdes." The handsome Cross measures 1 1/3 inch by 7/8 inch. The rosary weighs 30.9 grams. 38) CLASSIC BLACK CRYSTAL ROSARY FROM SIENA, ITALY- This is a handsome black crystal rosary. The crystal beads have a rich black color with undertones of other lovely colors. Each bead measures approx. 6mm. The necklace part measures 24inches; the dangling part is 5 1/4 inches long. The Center Medal shows Catherine of Siena in front and the reverse has a flower. 41) GENUINE CARNELIAN ROSARY FROM JERUSALEM - This rosary is made of genuine carnelian beads, measuring approx. 6mm each. The necklace part measures 26 inches long; and the dangling part from the center medal to the tip of the cross is another 6 inches. The rosary weighs 31.5 grams. Some beads have slight variation in color. Carnelian is a gemstone that has been around for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians used carnelian. It is said to stimulate the mind and perceptiveness, also increase energy, creativity, compassion, and assist in connecting with one's spirituality. $49

42) FRENCH CARDINAL OR BISHOP'S 1896 MOTHER OF PEARL AND SILVER ROSARY #2- We acquired this in Lyon, France, and our source was emphatic that this rosary belonged to the collection of a Cardinal of Nimes, France. The source said that the etching on the center medal is indicative of this. One side of the medals shows initials that look like "S.B." and the other side says, "25 Avril 1896." We think this belonged to the Bishop Felix-Auguste Bejuinot, who was born in 1836 and who died in 1921. We do not know why the initials on this one is different from #43 rosary. This rosary is made of silver and huge beads of mother of pearl. Each Hail Mary bead is approx. 8mm in size; the Pater Bead is 10mm in size. The necklace part measures 27 inches long; and the dangling part from the center medal to the tip of the cross is another 8 inches. The mother of pearl cross measures 1 2/3 by almost 1 inch. Everything is very substantial and solid. The mother of pearl beads are slightly irregular as they were handcut; this adds to the charm of the piece. The rosary weighs 55.7 grams, and it comes with its own brown leather case.. This is a serious item for the serious collector. $950

43) ANTIQUE MINIATURE ROSARY MADE WITH ORIGINAL HOLDER- This lovely rosary comes with such a lovely metal holder with the image of St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower). The rosary is made of white glass; each bead measures 2mm. The Cross is1 by 1/2 inch. The necklace part measures 13 inches; the dangling part is 4 inches long. The rosary holder is made of brass and measures 1 1/2 by 1 3/4 and it is 1/4 inch deep. It snaps tightly. There is 4 yellow glass stones decorating the top of the holder. The image of St. Therese looks better in reality; it has become distorted in this picture. This is a lovely and rare rosary set. $175

44) TWO RARE ANTIQUE CATHOLIC ROSARIES MINIATURE, SMALL-SIZED - We are happy to feature two rosaries are from Europe; they are miniature or small in size.

The first rosary with blue beads has Ave Maria beads that measure 2mm; the necklace part measures 13 inches, and the dangling part from the Center Medal to the tip of the Cross is 3 3/4 inches. The Cross is 3/4 inch long. It weighs 3.1 grams. There is a small medal attached to the blue rosary which is inscribed "made in Italy.".

The second rosary has glass beads that are coral in color, but pearlized. Each bead measures 4 mm; the necklace part measures 17 inches, and the dangling part is 4 1/4 inches. It weighs 7 grams. The Cross is one inch long. The Cross is interesting, as the Christ design in in the obverse in the backside. The metal is either gold plate or brass, and has lovely designs. There is one replacement Ave Maria bead.

These are two rare miniature or small-sized French rosaries that are collectible. (discounted 20% to $159.20)

49) - LARGE WOOD ROSARY FOR WALL- This is large and long rosary made of wood beads and appropriate to hang on the wall or place in a large statue's hands. Each bead is large and measures approx. 18mm; please refer to the dime in the picture for a sense of proportion. The necklace part measures 37 inches long; the dangling part is another 8 inches. The wood Cross measures 2 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches. It is inscribed with PX, as in PAX, the symbol of peace. The rosary weighs 102.9 grams. $65

50aa) VINTAGE CLASSIC WOOD ROSARY - This is a vintage wood rosary, brown in color. The necklace part of the rosary measures approx. 25inches; and the dangling part is 6 1/2inches. 51aa) STERLING ROSARY BRACELET WITH CAPPED SAPPHIRE BLUE BEADS - This is a lovely rosary bracelet made of sterling silver and large sapphire blue crystal or glass beads. The bracelet measures 6 5/8 inches long. It is slighlty over 1/2 inch at the widest point. The blue double capped crystal beads measure 8mm. The clasp is marked sterling. It weighs 12.8 grams. It is the ladder design and very lovely on the wrist. It is noticeable and quite beautiful. It is a lovely way to carry a rosary with you at all times. - $79

52aa) LOVELY ROSARY BRACELET MADE OF BLUE ART GLASS - This is a lovely rosary bracelet, measuring 7 1/4 inches long and 5mm at the widest point. Each blue art glass bead measures approx 5 by 15mm. 51) ANTIQUE ART DECO STERLING SILVER ROSARY BOX HOLDER - This is such a beautiful item, the picture does not do it justice at all. This one was something else in its Deco life - perhaps a cigarette case or card holder. A large rosary fits inside nicely. It measures 3 by 3 3/4 inches. It is 11 mm thick. There is a slight dent, as shown in the picture, leftside. It is hardly noticeable and you have to look for it. It weighs a hefty 84.7 grams. It is marked sterling with some numbers. It has an ornate etched design in both front and back. It's a nice way to carry your beloved rosary. $599

The shell holder is very lovely, made of 2 white big clam shells rimmed with brass fittings, shuts nicely, and roomy inside for a medium to large size rosary. MARY'S PROMISE TO THOSE WHO WEAR THE SCAPULAR- Our Lady gave St. Simon a scapular for the Carmelites with the following promise, saying : Receive, My beloved son, this habit of thy order: this shall be to thee and to all Carmelites a privilege, that whosoever dies clothed in this shall never suffer eternal fire .... It shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger, and a pledge of peace.

Another important aspect of wearing the Scapular is the Sabbatine Privilege. This concerns a promise made by Our Lady to Pope John XXII. In a papal letter he issued, he recounted a vision that he had had. He stated that the Blessed Virgin had said to him in this vision, concerning those who wear the Brown Scapular: "I, the Mother of Grace, shall descend on the Saturday after their death and whomsoever I shall find in Purgatory, I shall free, so that I may lead them to the holy mountain of life everlasting."
