PHILIPPINES BOOKS
PALH also known as Philippine American Literary House
has been a mail order bookseller of Philippine and Philippine American books since 1995. All books in our U.S. location are selected carefully and are appropriate for libraries, collectors, educators, as well as the general reading public. Many of our books are one-of-a-kind.
In 2003, PALH released it's first book publication, Growing Up Filipino: Stories for Young Adults, an impressive collection of 29 stories by the same number of emerging and award-winning Filipino and Filipino-American authors.
PALH's beginnings connect with PAWWA (Philippine American Women Writers and Artists), an award-winning group that supported other Filipina writers and artists and provided community service. PAWWA recognized the lack of Filipino and Filipino American books in the United States and encouraged PAWWA co-founders Cecilia Brainard and Susan Montepio to start PALH. PALH currently continues under the leadership of Cecilia Brainard with the help of an Advisory Board.
As a community service, PALH has created websites of noted Filipino authors such as N.V.M. Gonzalez, Lina Espina Moore, and others. PALH also maintains PALH-ezine, which showcases Filipino writers and their works on a permanent basis, providing online researchers valuable information about Philippine and Philippine American Literature. These and other important Filipino, Filipino American, and literary/arts links can be found in the Links page.
To support its literary work, PALH also carries rosaries, antiques, jewelry, and collectibles.
To those who want to know how our clients feel about us, we have posted some of our clients' feedback in our Order Page.
